Longyearbyen is the largest settlement and the administrative center of Svalbard, Norway. As of 2008, the town had a population of 2,040. Longyearbyen is located in the valley of Adventdalen, at the end of Adventfjorden, a bay ofIsfjorden located on the west coast of Spitsbergen.
